New Samsung phones during CES 2010

Three of the latest Samsung handsets will be presented at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. To be more precise Samsung Corby, CorbyPRO and Galaxy Spica. All these devices come with AMOLED displays, 800 MHz processors and some of them with Android OS.

Samsung Corby uses Touchwiz user interface, easy connectivity to social networking sites and interchangeable back covers which give you plenty of customization options.

CorbyPRO spots out a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, besides push e-mail services, access to social networks, dedicated music keys and a 3.5mm headphone jack, 3 MP camera, Wi-Fi, and 3G/HSDPA support.

Galaxy Spica boosts Android OS, which gives users easy and fast access to services like Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Talk, besides social networks and myspace.

News update on Android 2.1

In a press event Google gave some more details about the Android 2.1 operating system, and these news will surely make all the android-enthusiasts happy.

Without any further ado, we’ll just hit give you the most exciting news from this press event: Google Android 2.1 will run on older devices too, as Peter Chou, CEO of HTC ( who was present at the event) confirmed that some of HTC’s older smartphones running on Android will be upgraded to 2.1.

Here’s a quick list of what Android 2.1 brings new:
- Google Maps Navigation: offering turn-by-turn driving directions with voice output.
- Email: multiple Gmail accounts; universal inbox and Exchange support.
- Phone book: aggregate contacts from multiple sources, including Facebook.
- Quick Contacts: easily switch between communication and social applications.
- Android Market: access to more than 18,000 applications.

Vodafone UK iPhone Launch Partners

Not so long ago we were talking about the bad marketing move made by Vodafone UK, meaning the launch of the iPhone after the holidays. Today we have more news on the launch for you.

Seems like Vodafone UK really wants to boost the sales to Apple’s device, so the mobile carrier announced the list of retailers who will distribute the smartphone in the country.

20 partners can be counted, ten premier partners and ten gold partners. The premier partners are: CBS Comms Centre (Cambridge), Cellular Solutions & Services (Brighton), CCS Mobile (Newcastle), Excalibur Communications (Swindon), Garnell Corporate Comms (London), Grapevine (Poole, Bath), Premier Telecom (Fareham), The General
Telephone Co (Salisbury, Yeovil, Bath), The Word Direct (Cardiff), and Totel (Derby). HTC HD2 in Australia starting January 2nd 2010

Here’s another case of bad marketing. When everybody wants to buy the newest gadgets for Christmas, you get the HTC HD2 in Australia starting January 2. Perhaps a late Christmas treat or gift?

Needless to say, this smartphone running Win Mo 6.5 that has a 4.3 inch touchscreen display will get all mobile phone enthusiasts rushing to the stores.

Here’s a good news for fans: on Microsoft’s website, if you register and tell them in 25 words or less how HTC HD2 will improve your life, you might be one of the five lucky persons that will get this device for free.

iPhone coming to Vodafone UK in January 2010

Not a very good marketing move, since you’d expect to find the iPhone on Vodafone UK’s shelves for Christmas. Yet it seems like the mobile carrier didn’t manage to deliver the smartphone for the holidays, so it will hit the stores in January 2010. Also, the mobile carrier is the first to allow customers to use their iPhones as a modem - starting at £5 to download 500 MB

UK customers will be able to have the iPhone for £30 a month on a 24 months contract. This price doesn’t include the actual device, for which users will have to pay a price ranging from £59 (iPhone 3G 8GB) to £239 (3GS 32GB). All contracts will include 1GB monthly data limit on mobile internet.

Network Outage hits T-Mobile USA users

It’s not the first time this year when T-Mobile has some bad luck. This seems to follow the services it provides. Some time ago, Sidekick users suffered from a service interruption because of a server outage, the whole network was down a few weeks ago, and not yet another outage hit its users.

The good news is that the mobile carrier quickly responded so all the problems were fixed after T-Mobile’s engineers identified the malfunctioning equipment. Needless to say, even with this problems, a study revealed that T-Mobile’s customers are the happy with the services it offers, so, no harm done.

BlackBerry Bold 2 at Canada’s WIND Mobile

The new Canadian carrier, WIND Mobile, will soon provide its users the new Blackberry Bold 9700 aka Blackberry Bold2. Canadian users will also be happy to find that the mobile carrier will deliver this phone without a contract agreement, meaning you can have it both pre-paid and with a contract (of course).

BlackBerry Bold 2 has a pretty impressive fact sheet. With 256MB of memory and a 624MHz processor, it comes with built-in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi, 3.2MP camera, touch sensitive pad, full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.44 inch display.

No news on the price for this handheld yet, as WIND Mobile didn’t put it on the shelves. Hopefully, it will be available before Christmas. Worst case scenario, we’ll see Bold 2 in stores beginning 2010.

Bigger memory capacity for the next generation of iPhones and iPod Touch?

Everybody expected, sooner or later, to find on the market 64GB of NAND flash memory crammed into a single chip. Well, the good news is the fact that Toshiba announced that it managed to do just that, and now everybody is thinking about the next iPhones and iPod Touch to hit the market next year. Mainly because if you add this storage capacity to an already great device, well, what more can you ask?

This is only a rumor right now, but it’s very possible to see the next year’s models, meaning the 4th generation come with 64GB of memory, doubling its current capacity. However, this is only bound by one thing: prices going down fast enough.
